News Biography:

I most recently worked as the North Country Bureau chief for Capital News 9, a 24-hour news station in the Albany market (DMA, 55). While there, I worked as my own assignment desk editor, reporter, and producer, covering a four-county region as a one-man band reporter. I conducted “Live” shots on a consistent basis and anchored bureau hits out of my office daily. While working for Capital News 9, I also first broke the story of a local police officer gunned down in the line of duty. I went live from midnight until about three-thirty in the morning, proving that the news doesn’t stop after 11 o’clock every night. In addition to covering day-to day stories in the North Country, I also put together several stories on the race for the Governorship in New York. When the space shuttle crashed, I was the only reporter to travel to Plattsburgh, NY to put together local coverage on Michael Anderson, the payload commander aboard space shuttle Columbia. I also conducted live shots and packages from Lake Placid, NY when the movie ”Miracle” was first premiered in the small village, where the U.S. hockey team took the gold in the 1980 Winter Olympics.

I came to Capital News 9 from Scottsbluff, Nebraska where I worked at KSTF-News Channel 10 as an Anchor/Reporter. While there, I worked as a reporter, anchor, producer, photographer, and assignment desk editor. At KSTF, I sometimes would plan, shoot, write, produce, and edit an entire newscast by myself. Many times, I would even set up the studio cameras and the teleprompter myself before a newscast as well. Additionally, I also managed the other news staff on a daily basis.

Before that, I worked as an Associate Sports Producer for Fox23 news in Albany, NY. That work consisted of editing sports voice-overs, writing sports voice-overs, and conducting interviews in the field. While at Fox23, I was also given the opportunity to conduct post-game interviews with the New York Giants on a consistent basis at the Meadowlands. My television news career also began with an internship at that very same station, when I worked as a News/Sports Intern.

A native of Putnam County, I graduated in 1999 from the State University of New York at Oneonta, majoring in Speech Communications, and minoring in Mass Communications. I later attended the New School of Radio and Television in Albany, NY graduating with a technical degree in Broadcasting Journalism.
